Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has started his campaign for the congress party from Perumbavoor in Kerela. He became the fourth Prime Minister to address an election campaign in the town located in Ernakulam district. The town is at 30 kilometer distance from the famous city Kochi.
The Prime Minister addressed a public meeting asking people to render support for the UDF candidate Shanimol Usman who is contesting election against the sitting MLA Saju Paul of LDF from perumbavoor constituency.
Earlier jawahar Lal Nehru had visited to Perumbavoor to address a public meeting in 1963. Later on, this place was visited by Ms. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi to address public meetings.
