In a recent development over Narmada dam issue, Narendra Modi, Chief Minister, Gujarat, has alleged that the central government has been deliberately obstructing the construction of the dam since it is not named after Nehru Gandhi family.



It is true that the foundation stone of the project was laid by the then PM Jawahar Lal Nehru, 30 years back. But it is hard to digest that the project was delayed due to the reason that it is not named after Nehru-Gandhi family.



There seems nothing substantial in his recent allegation. There are issues related to the project which is even tough to resolve for the central government. Any government for that matter at the centre would find it tough to move ahead with the project without facing any criticism. The latest hue and cry is nothing but a cheap politics over a very important issue.
