Indian cricket fraternity is fuming over the development at international Cricket Council. The recent inclusion of Mark Benson, Asad Rauf and Billy Doctrove in the Elite Panel of Umpires has raised eyebrows of Indian cricket fraternity.
However, it’s not a matter of not deserving or less deserving indeed but it’s hard to believe that no Indian considered adequate to be named in this group of seven which is expanded now to ten.
This has brought visible disappointment to former Indian cricket umpires who are now waiting for what the authorities have to say over the issue.
According to prevailing thoughts at least one Indian should have deserved a place on the panel. There was high probability that A.V. Jaiprakash or K. Hariharan would be selected for the panel. Further it has been argued that if the ICC found the names extended by the BCCI were not fit for the position, the BCCI should have pushed a few more names for the purpose.
