While the concept of Web 2.0 has just started infiltrating in and not has reached maturity yet, the concept of Web 3.0 has already started making rounds. It is pleasantly shocking to hear that the present World Wide Web is just in its nascent stage. Now the brains who were responsible for World Wide Web are masterminding the concept of Web 3.0.
The Semantic Web, which can better be dubbed as future Web 3.0, is another brainchild of Berners-Lee. The sites, links, media and databases are well turned-out and are smarter than ever before in the upcoming Web 3.0 or the semantic web. The links and databases are so efficient that they are able to convey more information automatically than that of today.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of 15th annual International World Wide Web Conference held at Edinburgh the veteran Berners-Lee said:
‘A user could click on a link and immediately transfer the time and date of the conference to his or her electronic calendar. The location - address, latitude, longitude, perhaps even altitude - could be sent to his or her GPS device, and the names and biographies of others invited could be sent to an instant messenger list.’
What more can you ask for? It is simply brilliant. This will definitely spark off an era of unbelievable speed and quality of communications.
